Dear Netflix, I have read that you have acquired a patent on renting out DVDs on a subscription basis over the internet. I, along with a number of other customers (see the story on http://slashdot.org ) am upset by this decision -- I feel that it is anticompetitive, and that it places unacceptable restrictions on liberty. I know that I don't speak just for myself when I state that should you require licenses or sue anyone for this technology, I will stop using your service, and turn the positive word-of-mouth I have been spreading about your service to something highly negative. I like your service, and in the time that I've had it, I've seem a number of good movies. I know that I've gotten you at least two other customers. I don't want to leave, but if you do this, I won't still be a customer or an advocate.
Sincerely,
Pat Gunn
