"But where shall he stand?"

In the evenings, the sound of rapidly moving feet can be heard.. a rapid, loud sound of little feet carrying cats... they run, yowl, and spin around each other.. stepping on everything in their path. Oops, they just broke my keyboard.. and I fixed it again.

Today was just one of those weird days where one wakes up, almost a different person. Last night, I went to bed around 21:, and woke up this morning around 05:, went to work/school, worked, swam, worked, etc etc. Over the last few days, I've had conversations with someone that, while not having the most obvious effect intended, did change the way I look .. at the world.. at least a bit. Long term? Hard to tell.

Let's undilute the waters.. Get flavour back into the lemonade, by ladling out some water.

I made use of my Radio Shack warranty on my earphones, stopping by after work today to swap the dead ones with a shiny new replacement. Years ago, I went to the McLeod offices, and felt useful... helped people, kept the systems running, programmed.. I had the boss's ear, and poured life into the systems... and eventually, things went downhill as the business gasped again, people left, and so more people left as the responsibilities grew greater and McLeod treated people worse. Still, if I think, I can still recall the *feel* of the early days.. the joy of coming in to work, the office.. You can see the health in the now-sickly face... And then, the same feeling, at GoAntiques... a good feeling.. felt useful... and the feeling there.. it didn't really ever go away... I got a bit bored, but I still remember.. enjoying going in to work every morning. And now.. I remember the same thing.. the early days of now ... this period in my life.. cloven like a horse's foot. Old apartent, coming in to work.. it's still there... helping people... as they come and go, but it's not depressing here. No sense of impending doom... just some minor frustrations. A good job..

Ouch, giving a spanking really stings the hand of the giver. Good that you can still feel it.

My current fascination: Aleksandr Kerensky, one-time leader of Russia after the last Tsar and before the Bolsheviks. Amusing: The DARPA autonomous racing challenge had zero(!) competitors to finish. CMU's robot apparently went the furthest (about 1/20th the total distance), and then promptly caught fire.

I don't know if this link will still be good when you read it, but here's an interview with Mel Gibson's dad regarding Jews and WW2 in general.
