Four potentially interesting bits of news:
- Chavez's package of constitutional reforms for Venezuela did not meet voter approval (very narrow failure).
- The political matter of a British teacher being jailed for blaspheming Islam in Sudan was ended(?) with a presidential pardon after two Muslim members of the House of Lords met with officials in Sudan. She's likely to return to the UK, as a fair number of people called for her death for the action. One thing to note - this is, I believe, primarily about symbolism and finding a way to express displeasure at an outside presence in the country with said protesters.
- Turkey's stepping up its military action in Iraq.
- Eritrea and Ethiopia are at the brink of war.
